So this little jar was formed using the Kurinuki technique, where I started out with a solid square piece of clay and then carve out the inside of the form to create the interior of the container. The clay I used is a warm chocolate stoneware that I then painted with a white slip. Then carved using my signature sgraffito technique to create the design. The box if fired with a glossy white glaze on the inside but left raw on the outside. This container is ideal for holding jewelry or other small treasures.
